Day 1-5 Diamond Bus trip to Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas (Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona & Nevada) with Bean/Smith Travel Presents Part 1

Day 1: Wednesday, September 3: Little Rock, Arkansas 

Today we will travel from Alabama, through Tennessee, stopping to spend the night in Little Rock, Tennessee.

We began our trip with breakfast at Hardie's in Loretto, TN.

We ordered each a Sausage and biscuits, and spent $10.

We spent an hour on the road to Petersburg, TN, to meet the bus and the group traveling on our trip.  

We loaded onto the bus and were on the road by 8 A.M.

Our driver, Harold, is driving the bus.

Knoxville, Tennessee.

Our first rest stop was at the Patsy Cline, Chet Atkins 1-40 Rest Area in Holiday, Tennessee.

 We stopped for lunch at noon at Chick-fil-A in Lakeland, Tennessee.

I ordered a Greek parfait with strawberries and blueberries 

With water to drink. 

Hubby ordered a grilled chicken salad, and we spent $18.

When we finished eating, everyone went outside, sat down, and chatted. 

We were back on the bus by 1:00P.M.

Our next rest stop was at Love's Travel Center, Hazen, Arkansas, around 2:48P.M.

We had dinner in North Little Rock at the Golden Corral around 4:45 P.M.

I ate fish, Mac cheese, okra, and hush puppies. 

We arrived at the Courtyard by Marriott, located at 10900 Financial Center Parkway, Little Rock, AR., around 6:45 P.M.

Day 2: Thursday, September 4, Little Rock to Oklahoma.

I began the morning by walking two miles before breakfast. 

For breakfast, I ate a cheese omelette, a biscuit, gravy, and yogurt.

I drank cucumber water.

We loaded onto the bus and were on the road by 8:30 A.M.

We arrived at the President Clinton Library Museum & Park around 9:00 A.M.

I walked around Clinton Park, taking pictures of the 26 Cool Globes, featuring "Hot Ideas for a More Incredible Planet," that were displayed. Each represents a solution for climate change.

Hubby was waiting for me at the entrance to the museum. 

We went inside and had to go through security. Once inside, we visited each level of the museum and visited the gift shop.

Stopped to get my photo with President Clinton's Limo. 

I walked outside while Hubby stayed indoors.

I walked around the park and walked across the Clinton Railroad bridge.

Around 10:30, we loaded onto the bus and headed to Oklahoma.

Our next stop was at the Arkansas Rest Area in London, Arkansas, around noon.

Our next stop was at Pilot, where the driver filled up with fuel, and everyone ate lunch. 

There was a Wendy's inside the Pilot where Hubby and I ate lunch. We ordered a junior cheeseburger with French fries and a Frosty, totaling $10.15.

Hubby also bought a Mountain Dew and a Reecup, which he spent eight dollars on. 

Our next stop was at Seminole Nation Casino in Seminole, OK, around 5:14 P.M. We used the restrooms, and some of us played the slot machines.

We arrived at Pickles Steakhouse, 1201 S. Meridian Ave. Oklahoma City, OK, around 6:00P.M. 

I ordered Fried fish with Mac and cheese and creamed potatoes. For dessert, we were served Vanilla Ice cream and cherry pie.

We loaded back onto the bus and headed to our hotel.

We arrived at Hampton Inn Northwest, 3022 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK, around 8:00 P.M. 

We were in room 404. Took a hot shower and went to bed.

Day 3: Friday, September 5, Travel through Oklahoma, Texas, stopping in New Mexico.

Began my morning by walking the area near the hotel for about 2.25 miles. 

For breakfast, I ate an omelette, a muffin, and blueberry yogurt.

Everyone was on the bus by  8:30, and we were on the road by 9:00 A.M.

We arrived at the Route 66 museum in Clinton, Oklahoma, around 10:00 A.M.

We walked through the museum and the gift shop, then walked around outside, stopping to take photos. Bought some postcards and a hat for Hubby, spent $32.03.

Hubby and I ate lunch at Wendy's in Elk, Oklahoma, around noon. Hubby and I shared a cheeseburger and fries, and we both ordered a frost. 

Our next rest stop was at Buc-ee's in Amarillo, Texas, at 3 P.M., where we bought a Coke and cheese squares.

At the port of entry in San Jon, New Mexico, we had to stop at the weighing station around 3:47 p.m. 

We arrived at Del's Restaurant, 1202 E. Tucumcari Blvd, Tucumcari, NM, around 4:00 P.M.

Hubby and I both ordered a grilled chicken taco salad with fruit and Cool Whip from the salad bar. For dessert, we were served a Sopapilla covered in honey.

Back on the bus for a long ride to our hotel. 

We arrived at the Holiday Inn Express, 10501 Copper Pointe Way NE, Albuquerque, NM, around 9:30 P.M.

We were in room 221. Took a shower and went to bed.

Day 4: Saturday, September 6, Travel through New Mexico to Arizona. 

Before breakfast, I took a walk around the area near the hotel.

For breakfast, I ate gravy, biscuits, yogurt, and water.

We loaded on the bus at 8:30 A.M. and rode to the Northwest New Mexico Visitor Center,

where we watched a video about the area being formed by volcanic ash at 10:15 A.M.

We explored the museum and gift shop, where I purchased postcards and a bag for $3.50.

We stopped at Loves in Milan, NM, @ 11:56 A.M. for a restroom break. Hubby bought a Mountain Dew and a bag of Cheetos, totaling $11.56. 

We ate lunch at Subway, located in the Love building. I ordered a 12-inch Philly sub and 3 cookies, which Hubby and I shared. 

We stopped at the Perry-Null Trading Post in Gallup, New Mexico, took a few pictures, and made no purchases.

We ate dinner at Cracker Barrel in Kingman, Arizona, at 6:30 P.M.

I ordered grilled chicken fingers, baked apples,  cornbread, and tea.

I also bought a pair of PJs at Cracker Barrel using my Christmas Gift card.

We arrived at the Clarion Inn, located at 3129 and Devine Ave, Kingman, Arizona, around 8:15 P.M. We are staying in room 220. 

Took a shower and went to bed.

Day 5: Sunday, September 7, Arizona to Nevada

I walked 2 miles in Kingman, AZ, where I saw several birds, a cactus garden, and many store buildings.  

I ate breakfast at the Clarion Inn in Kingman, AZ.

I ate gravy, biscuits, egg, Raspberry pastry, and water. 

We were loaded onto the bus and had a brief church service, which included the Lord's Supper.

We left Kingman at 10:00 A.M., headed for Las Vegas.

We rode through Arizona, through Boulder City to Henderson, NV 

We stopped at the Ethel M chocolate factory and the cactus garden.

We walked through the factory, the candy shop. 

We walked outside to stroll through the Cactus Gardens, where we saw a variety of cacti.  The airport must be closed because we kept seeing Jets overhead with their landing gear down. I took several photos of the jets.

Hubby and I shared an ice cream with chocolate and cookies, which cost $10.50.

We rode to the Flamingo hotel, where we met our guide, but our rooms were not ready. 

We went to the food court, but we didn't eat anything since we're having dinner in a couple of hours.

I walked outside the hotel to see the flamingos, turtles, ducks, and fish.

At 4:15, we loaded onto the bus and rode to the Black Bear in Henderson, NV, for dinner. 

I ordered salad, cornbread cake, fried cod with slaw, and fries.

For dessert, we both ate huckleberry ice cream.  

We rode back to the Flamingo Hotel Casino. We are staying in room 7072 for three nights.

Looked outside our window, where I could see the Caesar Palace and the Bellagio Casinos. 

Took a show and went to bed.
