Colorado Trip Part two Day 6-10 2025 with the Travel Lady Tours Lawrenceburg, TN

Day 6:  Thursday, August 7, 

Breakfast at the Strater, where I ate blueberry biscuits and a strawberry yogurt. 

Have your luggage outside your door by 6:15 A.M. because we have to catch the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, Chama, New Mexico.

We traveled through several towns in Colorado into New Mexico.

We saw Hot Air Balloons in the air. 

We arrived around 9:15 A.M., walked through the depot gift shop where I bought a pair of sunglasses, and spent $16.00.

Everyone boarded the train, and we boarded coach F19.

Everyone on the coach in front of us had to get off because the coach would not connect. They disconnected the car and replaced it with another. That one would not work, so they tried another one. We were about one hour late getting started.

Finally, we were off. We stopped midway to fill the steam engine with water. We saw a beautiful county along the way. 

There was a hot buffet awaiting us when we arrived in Antonito, CO.

I ordered Brisket, mac & cheese, corn, salad, roll, and peach cobbler topped with Cool Whip. 

When we finished eating, we walked to the old 1880 Historic Depot, where historic markers were telling about the history. 

The train turned around and we headed back, getting off at the Cumbras Pass where a bus was waiting for us. 

We headed to the Fairfield Inn in Almosa, Room 317.



The travel lady and Bryan bought several Domino's pizzas, sodas, cookies, and veggies for everyone for dinner.

After dinner, Hubby and I walked to the nearby Walmart for Mt. Dew, snacks, and a couple of T-shirts. We spent $27.28. 

We are staying one night and on the road again tomorrow.

Day 7: Friday, August 8

Before breakfast, I walked around the hotel taking pictures. 

Breakfast was Greek yogurt and blueberry biscuits 

at Fairfield Inn, Alamosa, CO. Room 316

We loaded onto the bus around 8:00 A.M. 

We rode through several towns to Manitou Springs.

We stopped at Curerno Verda Rest Area to use the restroom and walk around, taking pictures. 

Around 11 A.M., we stopped at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post, where we ate lunch.

Hubby and I shared a Mushroom Swiss Bison cheeseburger with fries, and spent $20.11

I also bought a US map of Native Americans and a Huckberry Chocolate bar, spending $16.33.

I walked outside and took pictures of hummingbirds and butterflies. 

We loaded back onto the bus and headed to the 

Garden of the Gods Museum and Visitor Center. We toured the museum & park. Several of us walked down where we saw a deer resting and took pictures.

We loaded onto the bus, and our guide Queen joined us. She gave us information about the formations of the different rocks. We stopped so everyone could walk to the top of Balance Rock for a photo. 

We made another stop where we could hike through the rocks. Took several photos. Loaded back onto the bus, we dropped our guide.

We headed to Manitou Springs to the Cliff House, room 316, where we will stay two nights. 

Took a hot bath in the jacuzzi, then we went to dinner. 

We enjoyed a farewell dinner of a salad, steak, salmon, creamed potatoes, green beans, carrots, and cheesecake.

After dinner,  I walked downtown, checking out the nightlife.

Wrote in the journal and went to bed.

Day 8: Saturday, August 9, 

Cliff House room # 316

Breakfast: croissant, chocolate, raspberry, blueberries & cranberry juice, yogurt, and water around 6:30

After breakfast, we rode the bus to the terminal to take the Pikes Peak Cog up the mountain at 8 A.M.

It took about an hour to travel up the mountain. 

We visited the gift shop and museum. 

Walked outside and took a few pictures.

Loaded back onto the bus and rode back to the hotel. 

We ate lunch at Cliff House Bar and Grill. 

I ordered fish and chips. 

Hubby ordered a hamburger, fries, salad, and Coke.

When we finished, we walked around the town of Manitou. 

We stopped at Pikes Peak Ice cream & chocolate for a Reese's peanut butter cup waffle cone ice cream. 

There were several other members of our group there.

We stopped at Mountain Man Knife Store, bought 10 postcards, and spent $6.

I came back to the hotel and took a nap.

Ate cheese and pretzels for dinner.

DAY 9: Sunday,  August 10,

Peach yogurt with raspberries and blueberries, a chocolate croissant, and water.

We came back to the room and worked on the journal.

Set our luggage outside our door and walked downstairs. 

Hubby went outside and talked, and I walked around the downtown area taking pictures.

Our flight is at 2:05 P.M., Flight WN557, Denver to Nashville on Southwest Airlines. 

We loaded onto the bus and rode to the airport. Everyone followed our leader, who was holding the American Flag, after everyone had gone through security. We went down two sets of escalators and took the tram to our gate. Which was changed 4 times before we arrived. Gate C42

We had enough time for lunch. I ordered a mango parfait, spent $12.47, and Hubby bought a hamburger and fries at The Silver Bullet Sports Bar, paid $25.12.

We have arrived in Nashville at 5:35 P.M.

We had a bus waiting for us with a still two-hour ride home. 

We dropped off the Lawrenceburg people, and the bus took the rest of us to Florence. 

I ran inside Walmart for a few items, and it was dark when we headed home.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina Adventure Trip April 29-May 1, 2025 Days 3-5 (The Travel Lady)

 Day 3: Tuesday, April 29, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included 

I ate oatmeal for breakfast at the hotel around 6:00 A.M.

We loaded onto the bus and headed to ride jeeps to see the wild Horses.

The horses roamed the beach area among the vegetation and houses that dotted the area. The only way to reach the houses was along the sandy beach. 

Depart for the Golden Nugget (Wild Horses), arriving around 9:00 A.M. and staying until 11:00 A.M.

At 11:30, we headed to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. 

Around 12:30 P.M., we arrived at Timbuck II for shopping and lunch. 

We ordered quesadillas, avocado dip, chips, and Cokes at Mexiland. We looked through several shops but didn't make a purchase. We did get a chocolate waffle and strawberry cheesecake ice cream.

Around 2:30 P.M., we returned to the hotel for some free time.

We put on our swimsuits and walked to the beach. We didn't stay long; we returned to the hotel and took a nap. 

At 6:00 P.M., we headed to Sunset Grill for dinner on the Currituck Sound.

For dinner, I ordered Coconut shrimp, broccoli, rice, and Key Lime Pie. 

Return to the hotel around 8:00 P.M.

Day 4, Wednesday, April 30, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included 

I ate waffles with almonds, cranberries, and cranberry juice for Breakfast at the hotel around 6 A.M. 

Brodie Lighthouse

Around eight, we will depart for the Bodie Island lighthouse, 8210 Bodie Island Lighthouse Road, Nags Head, NC, 9103-9129

It was built in 1872, stands 156 feet tall, and is located on Cape Hatteras. It is a brick lighthouse with a 214-step spiral staircase. It keeps a silent watch over the treacherous waters known as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic." 

We walked the boardwalk to the freshwater marshland and back. 

We stopped at Subway to pick up boxed lunches of ham & Cheese for lunch.

At 9:30, we will depart for the Chicamacomico Life Saving Station, 23645 NC Highway 12, Rodanthe, NC.9171-9190

Our guide explained the importance of the life-saving station and how it has saved lives, describing the efforts and methods used by the early Coast Guard. 

I bought a shirt, a book, and postcards in the gift shop. 

We ate lunch on the bus before departing for Cape Hatteras 46379 Lighthouse Road, Buxton, NC. The lighthouse is currently closed for repairs, but the museum is open for visitors.

In 1999, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Station was relocated 2,900 feet from its original location due to the threat of shoreline erosion. 9191-9204

Our next stop will be the Atlantic Museum's graveyard, 59200 Museum Drive, Hatteras Island, NC. 9207-9230

Stopping for some fudge

Around 3 P.M., we stopped at Scotch Bonnet Fudge, 51684 NC 12, Frisco, NC, so everyone could purchase a piece of fudge. We ordered a quarter pound of Peanut Butter Chocolate and a quarter pound of Rocky Road. 

At 4:00 P.M., we will depart for dinner at Basnight's Long Cedar Cafe, located at 7623 S. Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC. 

Outside our window, we saw an Osprey Nest with the female sitting on eggs and the male guarding the nest. 9205-9252

I ordered broiled flounder with green beans, potato salad, and a key lime Bar. 

On everyone's table was a bowl of crab dip with chips.

Day 5: Thursday, May 1:breakfast and dinner included 

Scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, blueberry muffins, and cranberry juice for breakfast at the hotel at 6:00 A.M.

At 8:15 A.M., we depart for the Wright Brothers National Memorial, 1401 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC 9258-9314

The bus stopped and everyone got off to see the statues, airplane, and markers.

Then, several of us began our journey up the hill to visit the Wright Brothers Memorial. 

Then we had to journey down the hill to the nearby museum.

We toured the museum, and the curator gave a speech about the Wright Brothers and their determination to build a flying machine. 

At 10:30 A.M., we departed for the Village of Manteo for shopping, 9315-9337, and lunch.

My Husband and I shared a banana split with real strawberries, strawberry chocolate, and vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream and cherries.

I took a few pictures of the war memorials.

Around 12:30 P.M., Hubby and I walked across the bridge to the Festival Park Living History Museum.

We waited for the others to arrive. 

We watched the film "Legend of Two Paths," toured the museum, and saw a replica of the Queen Elizabeth II sailing ship. 

We also saw the settlement and the Discovery Museum. 9338-9412 

At 3:00 P.M., we took a cruise on the Johnny Dolphin, where we saw several dolphins and Osprey nests. We also visited the boatyard and saw several boats. 9413-9547

At 5:00 P.M., we will depart for dinner at Sugar Creek Restaurant, located at 7340 S. Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC. 

I ordered broiled shrimp, clams, fish, cornbread, and carrot cake. 

Around 7:00 P.M., we returned to our hotel, the Hampton Inn Corolla. Room 317

We will pack our bags and leave for our hotel in Abington in the morning.
