THE HORSE AND RIDER ~POEM

His ebony coat glistens in the moonlight
His thick luxurious locks flowing
His spirited eyes gaze into the night
A magnificent steed waiting

She slithers into ebony leather chaps.
Her snakeskin boot fit her tightly.
Her long flowing hair was pulled up
A rhinestone jacket
A dark brown hat atop her head

She hoists her right leg over the saddle
Her spurs dig deep into his side.
She sits up tall and rides into the night.

Together they go swiftly.
Through the rolling hill of clover,
The deep lush green valleys,
And the flowing rivers.

On the mountain top
They stare silently into
The night.

She dismounts and removes his saddle.
Spreads a blanket
Quietly she lies down.

Heaven shines her light,
Stars wink,
Moon smiles.

Frogs crook, owls screech.
Wolves howl, crickets chirp.

For now, all is right with the word
As he falls into a deep slumber.
