2017 May 6, Strawberry Festival Moulton, Alabama 🍓🍓🍓🍓

I took Highway 101, crossed Wheeler Dam, and entered Lawrence County, traveling through Town Creek. At the red light, I crossed Highway 20, staying on 101 until I reached Hwy 157, turning left, and traveling east until I reached hwy 33, which took me to Courthouse Square.
I parked on Big Nance Street and walked a block, crossing Highway 33 onto Courthouse Square.
The Courthouse sits on a hill, so all my walking was up and down, which is very hard on the knees.
People filled the streets looking for gifts for Mother's Day
I saw a yellow and green board called Plinko, but I never played the game.
It was sponsored by the Moulton Middle School PTO.
The sign read:
Score 6 candies
Score 4 Stuffed Toy
Score 3
Fidget Spinner

Step up to the board once you have all of your chips.
Lay a Plinko chip flat against the top of the Plinko board.
Take aim at the prize you want to win by lining up the chip within an area where it can bounce around the board until it lands in the slot.
Release the clip and watch it bounce and travel through the maze until it reaches one of the bottom slots.
If you win a prize and the chip doesn't land on zero, then you can add the prize amount to the grand total of winnings.
Repeat Steps 3 through 6 until you've played all of your Plinko chips.
The smell of food filled the air. Little Jimmy's was selling  Italian Ice, Cheese Chaos, deep-fried Oreos, soft pretzels, Iced tea, Lemonade, & Cheese Nachos.
Loud music filled the air as the band played near the Courthouse.
Mosquito Control!
The Neon color should attract the Mosquitoes if it doesn't blind them first.
 LOL
I love this neon green and yellow color. I
wear this color often
Guess I want to attract mosquitoes.
"Coke Cola Mura.l" There is nothing more refreshing than a cold Coke Cola in a bottle.
I guess the Hillsboro Fire Fighters were here to help keep the peace, just in case the crowd got rowdy.
Class of 1933  White Buick

A Johnnie Cash and Elvis Presley Fan was walking near the Fairlane's
This Chevrolet had a sign in the window.
Look, but please don't touch it!!
Kool car tag "OLDSKOOL"
This bright orange-trimmed black car had wings. I bet it can fly!!
Nice ride!! SS 350
I stopped to talk to this young man. I said you have some beautiful flowers.
I said that I did not need any more right now, I had just bought several.
He was selling them for the FFA Agricultural Education
Learning to Do, Doing to Learn,
Serving to Live, Living to Serve.
I had a great time walking around, talking to people, smelling the food, listening to music, and watching the line dancers and tap dancers.
The Hillbilly's Helping Children Shriners Hospital
RC, Moon Pie, Mountain Dew, and See Rock City were just a few of the signs attached to the Shriners' outhouse. I stopped to talk and donate. I loved their display and told them they should be at the front, not at the end of the line.

✈️✈️✈️2007 May 1, Tuesday, Trip to Shriners Hospital in Lexington KY

Tuesday, May 1, Lexington, KY
We left the Muscle Shoals Airport at 7:45 A.M. in Bobby's airplane for the second time, heading to the Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
We are taking Meadow to Shriners via Angle Flights for medical reasons. Meadow had multiple problems.
We arrive at the Kentucky Airport at 9:30 A.M.

This time I took my camera and took several pictures.
We took pictures of each other wearing the gigantic headphones with a microphone to speak into.
We had to wear headphones to communicate.
I took pictures of Meadow laughing; she was in a jolly mood.
Meadow sat facing us. Maybe she was laughing because we looked funny with the headphones on.
I took several pictures of the ground below and the clouds above.

Kentucky
Robert Trent Jones Golf Course
I took pictures of the raging blue/green Tennessee River as it flowed through the Wilson Dam.
I took pictures of the sand pits and the lush greenery at Fighting Joe's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Muscle Shoals. We had a fantastic view of the golf course from our plane.
I took pictures of the Renaissance Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Florence, which is home to 360 Grille.
360 is fine dining with a fabulous view of the Tennessee River.
When we flew over Lexington, Kentucky, I took pictures of the horse track and stables that were fit for a king.

Meadow strapped in her car seat, laughing
Meadow was dressed in pink from head to toe
Meadow in the examination room, I was dressed in yellow, just a hint darker than the examination room.

When we arrived at the airport, Bobby went inside to get a van to take us to the hospital for foMeadow's appointment.

Meadow was weighed, her head and length were measured, and then we were taken to the Penguin examination room.
The examining room was painted a pale yellow with pictures hanging on the wall. A mural window was painted on the wall. Inside the window was a walrus wearing ear muffs, three penguins wearing caps, a red balloon, and an Owl wearing a red scarf.
Meadow saw Doctor Bennett, and he examined Meadow's bones. Lora talked to Mrs. Preston about Botox, and Mrs. Preston said it was a protein made from bacteria.

Lora talked to the doctor about  Meadow getting Botox injections and taking Meadow to Baltimore, Maryland, for therapy.
When all the doctor visits were over, we went to the cafeteria for lunch.
We ate pinto beans, cornbread, broccoli, salmon patties, watermelon, and brownies.
Wearing headphones with a smile
Getting ready to leave
After our meal, Lora called our pilot, Bobb, and we were in the air by 1:50 P.M.
It was very hot and humid, which caused a bumpy ride home.

Our pilot explained that when the hot air rises, it will cause the plane to bounce.
It had been a beautiful day for traveling.
My daughter is not too keen on flying, but she said she enjoyed this flight.
I love to fly; it is safer than driving.

✈️✈️✈️2007 January 11, Thursday, Shriners Children’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky

Thursday, January 11, 2007
We left Muscle Shoals Airport at 7:30 A.M. in a private plane and flew to Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

We loaded Meadow's new pink-and-black wheelchair, specially made for her, with her name, Meadow, engraved in pink lettering on the front of the black seat.
Meadow's Wheelchair
We loaded the diaper bag and my camera bag, which I take everywhere to document Meadow's experiences and our own, into the plane.

We flew from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to Lexington, Kentucky, in a six-seat plane; Meadow had to be buckled into her car seat.
Meadow sat facing the sun, so she closed her eyes and slept for most of our flight.

Lora spent the first fifteen minutes filling out paperwork for Meadows's doctor's appointment.

Everyone put on earphones so we could talk to each other and discuss the flight plans, speed, altitude, weather, skis' right-of-way, landing, and takeoff.

We arrived at the Lexington, Kentucky, airport about 8:30 A.M., where we were greeted by a shuttle van that took Meadow, Lora, and me to Shriners Hospital.

The pilot and his associate rented a car, they spent the day sightseeing, and they ate lunch downtown.

As we were riding to Shriners Hospital, I started talking to the driver.
The driver described the city of Lexington, talked about horse racing, and mentioned his family.
The driver said I have enjoyed many years working as a driver for Shriners Hospital.

Shiner's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, specializes in human bones.
When we arrived at Shiners Hospital, we loaded our baggage into a large red wagon, and then Lora registered Meadow for her appointment.
A nurse greeted us with a pleasant smile, then proceeded to take us to a room where the weight, measured the length and head size of Meadow.

We were then taken to an examining room, where Meadow was dressed in a white hospital gown covered in blue animals and the words, "Splish Splash I was taking a bath!"

Meadow
The doctor walked into the room and greeted us with a handshake.
The doctor asked many questions about Meadow's medical history; he examined Meadow's bones and sent her down for X-rays.

We sat in the lobby waiting for Meadow, and when she returned, we were taken to a different room.

The doctor came in and told us that Meadow had AP and lateral spinal skeletally immature with no measurable scoliosis, and both hips were concentrically reduced.
Meadow
It was 25 after 2, and the cafeteria closed at 2:30 P.M. We were given two vouchers for lunch, and we were allowed to each get a plate of food.
We had been so busy with all of Meadows's doctor visits that we had forgotten to eat lunch, and we were both very hungry.

We met with a Social Worker after lunch, where Lora explained to her how she had struggled to get equipment and physical therapy for Meadow in the area where we lived.
The nurse said you should not be having those problems, so she called the CP Center and made some connections.

The nurse called the shuttle van, which we met in front of the Shriners, and we were taken to the airport.

The airplane was loaded, and away we flew.

We flew over Nashville, Tennessee, and the city's lights were awesome.
It was windy, so our return flight took a little longer.

We arrived at Muscle Shoals, Alabama, airport, unloaded the airplane, loaded Lora's red truck, and Lora drove us home.

✈️✈️✈️2007~ Tuesday, May 1, Trip to Shriners Hospital in Lexington, KY

We left the Muscle Shoals airport at 7:45 A.M.
This is our second trip to the Shiners Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

I brought my camera this time so I could take pictures.
On the plane, I took several pictures of my granddaughter, who was laughing and enjoying the flight.

My daughter and I had to wear large headphones so we could talk to the pilot.
So we took pictures of each other wearing the headphones.

We flew low enough for me to take some awesome pictures of the ground below.
I took several pictures of a boat chugging along the Tennessee River toward the ocks at Wilson Dam.
I took pictures of the Marriott Hotel and the Renaissance Tower standing behind it.
For miles, I could see green trees, buildings with smoke rising from the tops, a white water tower, and the flow of the Tennessee River.

Then we flew over the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, what a view it looked like a video game with all the crooked paths, sandpits, and clubhouse.

We left the Tennessee Valley, flying through Tennessee and Kentucky, all the while I was taking pictures of lush greenery, different land shapes, hills and valleys, busy streets, houses, factories, and swimming pools.

Kentucky was a totally different view with the brilliant glow of the Kentucky Blue Grass, acres and acres of horse tracks, green rooftop barns, a lush green field filled with Kentucky racing horses, and miles of white fencing.

Our pilot gave my granddaughter a TEC Air lanyard, neck strap, which we put around her neck.

We safely landed at the Kentucky Air Field at 9:30 A.M. Standing next to the building were rows of horse jockey statues.

When we arrived, our pilot went inside to get a van to take us to Shriners Hospital for my granddaughter's appointment.

After we checked in, my granddaughter was weighed, her head and length were measured, and she was taken to the Penguin examination room
In the examination room, there was a mural on the wall behind the table where my granddaughter sat: a white and red owl, holding a red balloon, a black walrus with white tusks, wearing red earmuffs, three black and white penguins, with orange beaks, wearing hats of red, green,n and yellow, all standing in the snow.

Doctor DB examined my granddaughter's bones.
My daughter talked to BP about Botox, and she told my daughter that Botox was a protein made by bacteria.
My daughter told the doctors that she wanted to take my granddaughter to Baltimore, Maryland, for therapy.
They gave us a lunch voucher, and we walked to the cafeteria where we ate pinto beans, cornbread, broccoli, salmon patties, watermelon, and brownies.
The food I ate did not agree with my stomach, and the tea we drank was instant, not brewed.

Our pilot came to pick us up at 1:50 P.M.
Our flight home was very bumpy, and our pilots said that when hot air rises, it causes the plane to bounce up and down.
My daughter had not flown many times, and this flight was a little upsetting to her.
We arrived safely at the Muscle Shoals Airport.
